COFI is committed to catalyzing the parent-led movement for change in all communities. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce the launch of Phase Three: Policy & Systems Change, the final and ongoing phase of The COFI Way of Family Focused Organizing – over a decade in the making!

In the third phase, parent teams work together across culturally and racially diverse communities to initiate and win their first policy campaign aimed at economic, racial, and social justice on behalf of children and families. They work together to form a citywide, regional, or statewide parent organization, or a network of parent teams.

The initial Phase Three organizing follows a five-step process. At first, staff organizers work closely with the emerging parent leadership group to develop and build a sustainable structure. At the end of this process, the parent groups are able to impact change around a multi-issue policy change agenda. Going forward, organizing staff support parent leaders as they repeat the five-step organizing process and broaden the policy campaign platform, focus on implementing their victories, and sustain their organization and action organizing over time.

This fall, we’re piloting the Phase Three workshop in preparation for public launch sometime in 2023 – stay tuned! In the meantime, the manual is now available to order. You can also learn more about all three manuals here. Check it out!
