COFI-trained parents joined the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR) and partners to celebrate Safe Schools for All (House Bill 3247), a new law that protects free education to all students, regardless of immigration status! COFI-trained leaders in POWER-PAC IL included this bill on their “Moms on a Mission” legislative agenda in 2025 and made phone calls to their legislators, asking them to support the bill before the session ended.
Chicago Leader Rosalia spoke to Telemundo about what the new law means to her as a parent, especially during a time when the federal government is ramping up deportations and immigration enforcement. The law also requires schools to develop procedures for law enforcement requests to enter a building.
