Parents have a unique perspective on issues of school culture and are valuable partners in assessing and shifting school culture. 

The guide was created in cooperation with the Transforming School Discipline Collaborative and has been used by the Illinois State Board of Education and school district leaders around the state as they engage parents in improving school climate, lowering their use of suspensions and eliminating zero tolerance policies.
