POWER-PAC IL Co-President Discusses Peoples Gas Rate Hike

Donna Carpenter sits on the steps outside her home and is speaking to a journalist. There is a TV camera pointed at Donna.

Peoples Gas asked the ICC (Illinois Commerce Commission) to approve a record rate hike, but the increase would harm families struggling to keep up with rising gas bills. POWER-PAC IL Co-President Donna Carpenter explains to CBS Chicago why a rate hike is “impossible to keep up with.”

“Donna Carpenter has lived in her West Englewood home for about 10 years, watching as utility costs reached new heights last winter. She said her Peoples Gas bill jumped $300 to $400.

‘When you are on a fixed income, that’s impossible to keep up with,’ she said.

She’s now watching a potential record rate increase as it nears a final vote with the Illinois Commerce Commission, and she’s not alone.”
