Evanston Parent Leader Chanelle Brown spoke to the Chicago Sun-Times and described the incredible impact of parent-led organizing in winning the Illinois Child Tax Credit in 2024. This means that eligible families in Illinois can start benefiting from the credit this tax season!

Chanelle also explained how the cost of everyday essentials, including diapers, formula, and childcare, has increased between the time her 12-year-old daughter was born and last year, when her son was born.

“We’re cutting back even more, but I still want my children to have a good quality of life,” she said.
