Parent leaders in East St. Louis gathered at a forum hosted by Children’s Advocates for Change to discuss child poverty and potential solutions to address it. Increased funding for public schools, higher-quality education, and higher attendance were some education-based solutions that were explored during the forum.

Parent Leader Mamie Cosey spoke at the forum and said:  “Our children are our greatest possession. When we fail them, we have failed our community. … I’m thankful to you being here. … I had four children, but I raised 11… so to all of you here today, keep the fight going because it’s important.”
