POWER-PAC IL Co-President, Advocating for Illinois Child Tax Credit, Featured in Local News

Alongside Illinois state legislators, community partners and advocates, and COFI staff organizers, POWER-PAC IL parent leaders participated in a press conference in Springfield introducing a new Child Tax Credit. If Illinois legislators pass the law, eligible low-and middle-income Illinois families would receive a $700 tax credit for each child under the age of 17.

Donna Carpenter, POWER-PAC IL Co-President and Stepping Out of Poverty Campaign member, spoke during the press conference. “Even a few hundred extra dollars can help families like mine to get through. With an extra $700, I could pay some of my bills and go to the store to buy clothing for my disabled son,” she said.
