Parents Decry the Rising Cost of Utilities

POWER-PAC co-chair and parent leader Rosazlia Grillier testified at an Illinois Commerce Commission hearing on how the rising cost of utilities is leaving too many families in the cold – literally!

The Illinois Commerce Commission is concluding an investigation into a Peoples Gas infrastructure project which would lead to increased and unaffordable gas bills for Chicago’s families. Especially for the lowest income among us, the costs have gotten unbearable.

POWER-PAC’s STOP (Stepping Out of Poverty) campaign is targeting rising costs of living that inequitably target families living in poverty. The POWER-PAC leaders are particularly concerned about bills that lead to debt that has consequences that are hurting families – such as utility shut-offs.
