La l\u00edder de POWER-PAC IL capacitada por COFI, Shontiesha, como muchas otras madres, tiene m\u00e1s responsabilidades que nunca gracias a la pandemia de COVID-19. Ella est\u00e1 equilibrando el trabajo desde casa dando clases particulares a adultos con las demandas de mantener a sus peque\u00f1os en un horario. Ella tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1 usando este tiempo para trabajar en su poes\u00eda y quiere motivar a otras mujeres a seguir trabajando en sus metas.<\/p>\n

\n

Tratar de trabajar desde casa con dos ni\u00f1os peque\u00f1os ha sido un desaf\u00edo. En general, siento que es una bendici\u00f3n disfrazada. Me est\u00e1 ayudando a poner mi mente en orden y desarrollar una relaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s cercana conmigo mismo y con los ni\u00f1os.<\/em><\/p>\n

Mientras Shontiesha muestra resiliencia en medio de la pandemia, la saludamos a ella y a otras madres j\u00f3venes por el D\u00eda de la Madre. Honramos y elevamos sus voces, sus alegr\u00edas y desaf\u00edos como padres.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Los padres j\u00f3venes experimentan \u00edndices de pobreza m\u00e1s altos que otros adultos j\u00f3venes, con casi uno de cada tres padres j\u00f3venes viviendo en la pobreza. Los padres j\u00f3venes de color enfrentan los mismos desaf\u00edos que experimentan otros j\u00f3venes de color, pero combinados con los desaf\u00edos de encontrar cuidado infantil y vivienda asequibles.<\/p>\n

Y, como puede imaginar, las cosas son exponencialmente m\u00e1s dif\u00edciles dada la crisis actual de COVID-19. Muchos padres j\u00f3venes son padres aislados sin el apoyo de familiares y amigos. Soportan una cantidad desproporcionada de inseguridad econ\u00f3mica por la p\u00e9rdida de empleos y no tienen ahorros para pagar la vivienda y la comida. Al mismo tiempo, est\u00e1n luchando con el aprendizaje remoto para ellos y para sus hijos peque\u00f1os.<\/p>\n

Pero, a pesar de estas barreras, muchos padres j\u00f3venes est\u00e1n liderando y teniendo \u00e9xito.<\/strong> Son activos para sus comunidades y sus familias. Est\u00e1n motivados para mejorar la vida de sus hijos y de ellos mismos. Y no se ven a s\u00ed mismos como problemas que deben solucionarse, sino como una parte clave de la soluci\u00f3n.<\/strong><\/p>\n

COFI y POWER-PAC IL saben que esto es cierto.<\/p>\n

Creciendo juntos: padres j\u00f3venes comparten \u00e9xitos, luchas y recomendaciones para el cambio<\/a>, un nuevo informe de la Red de Acci\u00f3n de L\u00edderes de Padres Unidos, de la cual COFI y POWER-PAC IL son miembros, presenta las voces de m\u00e1s de 100 padres de 18 a 24 a\u00f1os, incluido Shontiesha. Encontrar\u00e1 su historia en la p\u00e1gina 10.<\/p>\n

Lea este informe y escuche las voces de estos padres j\u00f3venes diversos sobre sus desaf\u00edos m\u00e1s cr\u00edticos y, lo que es m\u00e1s importante, sus recomendaciones para cambiar las pol\u00edticas para mejorar las cosas. Los padres j\u00f3venes son los \u00fanicos que saben lo que se necesita para mejorar la vida de sus familias. Escuchar sus voces y experiencias cotidianas puede y debe informar programas, pr\u00e1cticas y pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas.<\/strong><\/p>\n

En sus historias y voces, vemos y escuchamos la esperanza, la pasi\u00f3n y el deseo de crecimiento y cambio que los padres j\u00f3venes aportan a sus vidas y a sus hijos todos los d\u00edas. Este momento crea una oportunidad para ayudar a los padres j\u00f3venes a realizar cambios en sus vidas que pueden tener un impacto exponencial en las familias en el futuro.<\/p>\n
