COFI recognizes that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Parents, as leaders of families, are \u201cnatural\u201d community and policy leaders, if given the chance.<\/li>\n<li>Parents, as leaders, will prioritize an action agenda that focuses on improving the community\u2019s support of children and families and addressing racial and economic inequities that limit life opportunities for their children.<\/li>\n<li>Parents have the right and the capacity to participate in the decisions that directly affect them, including public policy decisions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Significant barriers to parent participation exist in family service programs, school systems, government agencies, and community and advocacy organizations.
